Historic Private Club Since 1901
Nashville Golf & Athletic Club stands as one of Tennessee's most prestigious private clubs, with a rich heritage dating back to 1901. Originally established as Nashville Golf and Country Club, the club relocated to its current Belle Meade location in 1914-1916, where it received 144 acres donated by the historic Belle Meade Company.
The golf course features classic Donald Ross design elements, as attributed by "The American Golfer" in 1921, though some historical debate exists regarding H.H. Barker's initial 1914 contract. Regardless of the original architect, the course has maintained its traditional character through subsequent renovations by Robert Trent Jones Sr. (1951), Gary Roger Baird (1981), and most recently Rees Jones and Bryce Swanson (2004).
The championship layout plays 6,885 yards from the tips with a course rating of 74.6 and slope of 139. The course features bent grass greens and Bermuda fairways across relatively flat terrain that provides comfortable walking conditions. Richland Creek comes into play at seven holes, adding both beauty and strategic challenge to the round.
Beyond golf, Nashville Golf & Athletic Club offers comprehensive athletic facilities including tennis courts, swimming pool, fitness facilities, and elegant dining spaces. The club maintains its mission to provide a "platinum level private club experience for members and their guests" in the heart of Belle Meade.
