Established in 1907, Cherokee Country Club stands as one of Tennessee's most prestigious and historic private clubs. Located on a picturesque bend of the Tennessee River with sweeping views of the Great Smoky Mountains, Cherokee has been promoting and elevating the game of golf for over a century.
The club's golf course showcases the timeless design principles of Donald Ross, who was commissioned in 1919 to enhance the layout. After various modifications over the decades, renowned restoration architect Ron Prichard was brought in during 2000 to restore the course to its original Ross glory, utilizing historical aerial photographs and design principles. The restoration was completed and reopened for play in 2008.
This challenging par-70 layout stretches 6,370 yards and features the unique characteristic of six par-3 holes, including back-to-back par-5s at holes 4 and 5. The hilly terrain and strategic bunkering create a demanding yet fair test of golf that rewards thoughtful course management and precise shot-making.
Beyond golf, Cherokee Country Club offers a complete country club experience with world-class dining, tennis facilities, fitness amenities, and aquatic programs. The club serves as a cornerstone of the Knoxville community, hosting numerous charitable events and maintaining its reputation as one of East Tennessee's premier private clubs.
